Will of ‘Abbas Khvajah-nuri
‘Abbas Khvajah-nuri's will and certificate of guardianship for his son; Mirza ‘Abbas Khan, son of Mirza Nabi Khan, at the age of fifty declares his inheritors as his wife, Fatimah Khanum (daughter of Shaykh ‘Abd Allah), his eighteen-year-old daughter, Quds Iran, and his deranged son, Mahdi Khan known as Jahan Shah and currently called Javad Khan. He designates Fatimah Khanum as the executor of his will and guardian of Javad Khan. ‘Abbas Khan transfers the ownership of his household goods to his wife to compensate for the wear and tear of her dowry in his house. His properties include the houses in Mashhad, the money that people owed him including the rental fees of the Mashhad properties from Mirza Javad. The debt from Haj Mushir A‘zam and I‘zam al-Saltanah to Mirza Hidayat Khan Muhtasham (‘Abbas Khan's brother), which had been transferred to him, is also transferred to Fatimah Khanum. ‘Abbas Khan's debt (about eight thousand rials), Fatimah Khanum's Mahr of five thousand rials, and a five thousand rial debt to Quds Iran, with all eighteen thousand rials to be paid from the inheritance of ‘Abbas Khan. From a third of what is left, up to three thousand rials should be spent on the cost of a funeral and related ceremonies, while keeping the poor in mind. Five hundred rials of it should be given to the servant, ‘Abbas Mahdi Bayg, if he is alive, and two hundred rials should go to each of the male and female servants and Khanum Galin. Whatever is left from this third should be divided between Fatimah Khanum and Quds Iran. The other two thirds of the inheritance should be divided between Fatimah Khanum and the other two inheritors. The share for Javad Khan should be under the control of his guardian and if she sees fit, she can use it to buy a property or do a transaction with it and use the profit for Javad Khan's clothing and food. After Fatimah Khanum, the guardianship of Javad Khan will be the responsibility of his sister, Quds Iran. On November 15, 1947, ‘Abbas Khvajah-nuri has made some modification to the document due to changes in his properties, including sale of his houses in Mashhad for forty four thousand rials and purchase of a house in ‘Abbas Abad.
