Peasants to Anis al-Dawlah, 1894
A telegram from the peasants of Shaykh Garden in Savah (which was part of the crown lands of Hazrat ‘Abd al-‘Azim) to Anis al-Dawlah. They talk about their debt to the Court and state that after the garden was purchased by Zahir al-Saltanah, the peasants have been suffering from the injustice. The new owner has acquired 70 tumans more than their actual debt, which is beyond their financial means. In this letter, the peasants ask Anis al-Dawlah to act on their behalf before Nasir al-Din Shah. They request justice and for the extra money to be returned to them.
